2025 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is April 6th-12th
Kinship is theme of this year’s event

This year’s observation of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) is April 6th-12th. Established in 1981, NCVRW honors and supports individuals affected by crime, by challenging the nation to confront and remove barriers to justice for all crime victims.
NCVRW is led by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), one of six Program Offices within the Office of Justice Programs in the U.S. Department of Justice. Each year, OVC provides a comprehensive Resource Guide containing outreach tools and sample materials to assist in developing awareness campaigns. These resources include strategies for raising community awareness, sample materials for traditional and social media, and original artwork to unify national efforts.
During NCVRW, various events are organized to raise public awareness about victims' rights and services. These include advertising campaigns, movie screenings, social media initiatives, art displays, memorials, and community walks or runs. Such activities aim to foster collaborative partnerships and enhance support networks for victims.
The 2024 NCVRW theme emphasized providing "options, services, and hope for crime survivors." For 2025, the theme is ‘Kinship’—a call to action that our shared humanity should be at the center of all of our efforts to support the victims of crimes. From the NCVRW webpage, “KINSHIP is a state of being with survivors that drives vital connections to services, rights, and healing. KINSHIP is where victim advocacy begins.”
During NCVRW, individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate in local events, utilize available resources, and contribute to building a supportive environment for crime victims.
Planners of NCVRW events in Alabama are encouraged to contact news@ALPolitics.com with information about the events.
