From Moms for Liberty — Alabama
In Alabama, where family roots run deep and traditional values guide so much of our daily lives, the role of parents in shaping their children's future is undeniable. Across the country—and even at times within our own communities—there’s growing concern about government overreach when it comes to parental rights. That’s why the Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge stands out as a powerful and public commitment to protect what is sacred: the fundamental rights of parents to direct their children’s education and upbringing.
The pledge is simple but bold. Candidates who sign it—whether they’re running for local, state, or federal office—are pledging to stand with parents. They affirm that parental rights are not secondary or negotiable. They are fundamental, and no government or bureaucracy should infringe upon them.
During the COVID years, parents across Alabama got a firsthand look at just how quickly government decisions could override family authority. From prolonged school closures to policies that limited parental input and transparency, many families felt shut out of decisions directly affecting their children. Those experiences were eye-opening. Parents realized that if we want our rights respected tomorrow, we must elect leaders today who will prioritize parental rights first and foremost—without hesitation and without compromise.
In Alabama, our laws and traditions have long recognized the importance of family. We respect the wisdom of parents who know what’s best for their children. And as we face new challenges—be it in education, healthcare decisions, or local governance—it’s essential we have leaders who commit to protecting that foundation.
As of today, many Alabama candidates have already signed the Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge, including:
- Will Ainsworth - Lt. Governor
- Congressman Barry Moore - U.S. Senate Candidate
- Hampton Harris - Congressional District 2 Candidate
- Terri LaPoint - Congressional District 3 Candidate
