Alabama Cattlemen’s Scholarship Deadline Is Nov. 2

TL;DR: Applications for Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation scholarships close Monday, Nov. 2. Awards for the 2027–2028 school year cover a range of studies, from trade school to rural medicine.

Alabama students seeking help with college or trade school costs have until Monday, Nov. 2, to apply for Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation scholarships for the 2027–2028 school year. The deadline applies to awards for high school seniors, college students and those pursuing graduate or professional studies.

The Foundation awards more than $150,000 in scholarships each year, according to its program flyer. Funding comes from sales of Alabama’s specialty “Cowboy” license plate and private family gifts, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association says.

Awards are available for students who are Association members or whose parents or grandparents have been members for at least two straight years. Students should review each award’s rules before applying, since some include added requirements tied to their school, field of study or career plans.

For high school seniors, one application covers 12 scholarship options. Those include Tagged for Greatness, Tagged for Junior College and Tagged for Trade School, along with awards for service, junior cattlemen and students joining college equestrian or rodeo teams.

Current college students can use one application for eight scholarship options. These include Tagged for Senior College and several family-funded awards.

The Foundation also offers five graduate and professional scholarships, each worth $1,000. They support studies in veterinary medicine, animal sciences, agricultural law and rural medicine. The rural medicine award requires plans to practice in Alabama, with possible preference for students from rural parts of the State.

Applicants will learn their status by March 1, 2027. Scholarships will be presented at the Foundation’s 2027 Scholarship Banquet, which will take place in the spring.

Students can find application links and award details on the Foundation’s scholarship page. For questions, call the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association at 334-265-1867.
