Alabama Counties Identified Where Noncitizens Registered, Voted
Alabama SOS releases County list of 186 illegally registered noncitizens; 25 cast votes—Secretary Wes Allen vows to refer cases to law enforcement
The Alabama Secretary of State’s office has released a detailed list of counties where noncitizens were illegally registered to vote and, in some cases, cast ballots.
Secretary of State Wes Allen announced last week that his office has identified 186 noncitizens on Alabama’s voter rolls. Of those, 25 individuals illegally voted in elections in the State.
The County-by-County breakdown was shared publicly Monday. It shows where illegal registrations occurred and where ballots from ineligible voters were cast.
“I have been clear that our elections should be decided by American citizens and only American citizens,” Allen said. “Through a cooperative effort with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, my office used the federal SAVE database to identify the names of people who are not American citizens but who registered to vote and, in some cases, cast ballots in our elections. I will not tolerate this.”
The SAVE (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) database was key to matching noncitizen records with the voter file. Officials plan to refer all findings to local, State and federal law enforcement for review and any appropriate action.
The list itself is available in a PDF posted on the Secretary of State’s website, showing where the illegal registrations and votes occurred.
As Alabama prepares for the 2026 election cycle, Secretary Allen’s office has stepped up multiple election security efforts. Those include new ballot security emblems to be used in the 2026 elections and ongoing voter-file maintenance through tools like the SAVE process and the State’s own voter database, AVID.
County officials and law enforcement agencies are currently reviewing the list to ensure any necessary legal steps are taken.
