Donald Sewell, President of the Etowah County Farmers Federation, said, “Amy Minton has proven her conservative values through her work with the local and state Republican parties. We are confident she will serve us well in Montgomery in the Alabama Senate.”
Clint McElmoyl, President of the DeKalb County Farmers Federation, added, “Amy Minton is a hard worker and knows the importance of agriculture in our district. She will be a strong voice for agriculture and others in this district.”
In accepting the endorsement, Minton said, “I am greatly honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Farmers Federation. We share the same conservative ideology, and I look forward to working with them to strengthen and improve District 10.”
Minton holds a master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Before entering politics, she had a career in pharmaceutical sales with Bristol-Myers Squibb.
She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Republican Party in Etowah County and represents Congressional Seat 7 of District 10 on the Republican State Executive Committee. Minton was also appointed to the Alabama Public Library Services Board by Governor Kay Ivey. She is a member of the Etowah County Library Board.
Minton lives in Rainbow City with her husband, Dr. Maury Minton. They have two adult children, and attend MeadowBrook Church in Gadsden.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the State’s largest farm organization, with more than 365,000 members. Its endorsement process is grassroots-based: local county Farmers Federation boards must approve before FarmPAC endorsements are made in local elections.
Minton is challenging incumbent Senator Andrew Jones in the Republican primary for SD-10. Minton has outlined 10 Priorities she will pursue when she is elected on her campaign website, AmyMintonforAlabamaSenate.com.
