The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) has officially endorsed Senate Majority Leader Steve Livingston for Senate District 8, and House Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen for House District 9.

Chris Isaacson, President and CEO of AFA, said the endorsements reflect more than just political alignment. “The fact that both these men have been chosen by their colleagues to head their respective caucuses says a great deal about their character and leadership skills,” he said. He added that Livingston and Stadthagen “not only understand our industry and issues but have gone above and beyond to assist in promoting our cause as they recognize the value it brings to rural Alabama.” He also praised them for directing their legislative majorities “to the benefit of the State,” and affirmed that AFA looks forward to working with them in the next four years.

Livingston has represented Senate District 8—covering Jackson County and parts of Madison and DeKalb Counties—since 2014. In 2023, his colleagues elected him Senate Majority Leader. He holds vice‐chair roles on the Local Legislation Committee and the Rules Committee, and serves on multiple other Senate committees.

A lifelong resident of Scottsboro and a University of Alabama alumnus, Livingston runs Fuel Center, Inc. He is a father of two and a grandfather to five grandchildren.

On his endorsement, Livingston commented, “I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Forestry Association. Their support reflects our shared commitment to protecting Alabama’s natural resources, supporting rural communities, and promoting responsible forestry practices. I’m grateful for their trust and proud to stand with them as they work to make Alabama a more conservative state.”

In the House, Scott Stadthagen seeks a third term representing District 9, which covers part of Morgan County. He has served as Republican Majority Leader since 2022 and sits on influential committees like Fiscal Responsibility, Rules, and State Government.

Stadthagen earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of West Alabama and works as a home builder. He and his wife, Amy, have one child and live in Hartselle.

Founded in 1949, the Alabama Forestry Association is the leading Statewide advocacy group for forest products companies, landowners, loggers, and allied businesses. Its political arm, ForestPAC, supports candidates who align with the Association’s goals in forestry and rural development.
