The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) has announced the promotion of Anna Morgan Skipper to Director of External Affairs. The new position reflects her growing influence within the organization’s outreach efforts.

Skipper previously served as Grassroots Coordinator since 2021. In that role, she forged strong bonds among forestry professionals across Alabama and between those professionals and public officeholders.

Tom Saunders, AFA’s General Counsel, praised her impact in a statement announcing the promotion: “Anna Morgan has been instrumental in helping to create one of the most effective grassroots and advocacy campaigns in Alabama,” he said. “Her intuition and ability to not only understand the issues but also effectively communicate AFA’s positions has led to her immediate success in the arena of public policy.”

Chris Isaacson, AFA’s president and CEO, added, “Her unique blend of charm, intelligence, and determination combined with an unrivaled work ethic has made her an incredibly effective advocate for Alabama’s forestry community.”

Born and raised in Clarke County, where the forest industry plays a key economic role, Skipper holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama.

In her new capacity, Skipper will oversee the Association’s legislative and political affairs programs, partnering closely with Tom Saunders.

Skipper lives in Montgomery with her husband, Edward Skipper, a forester at Harrigan Lumber Company in Monroeville.

The Alabama Forestry Association represents Alabama’s forestry community with membership that includes forest products manufacturers, landowners, loggers, wood dealers, foresters, consultants, and others involved in forestry. Forestry provides $36 billion total economic output to the State’s economy. To learn more, visit ALForestry.org.
