Alabama GOP Legislative Recap – Week 2
From the Alabama Republican Party
The momentum continued in Montgomery last week as the Legislature moved swiftly through the second week of the 2026 session. Dozens of local bills were passed, demonstrating steady progress on issues impacting communities across Alabama.
Beyond local legislation, Republican lawmakers delivered meaningful policy wins that reflect our shared values. Highlights include:
Senator Matt Woods passed his first bills since moving from the House to the Senate, including legislation expanding opportunities for military veterans to serve in the classroom and protecting survivors of sexual assault by ensuring they cannot be silenced by nondisclosure agreements.
Representative Kenneth Paschal advanced legislation allowing retired state employees to return as full-time school bus drivers while maintaining their retirement benefits, helping address workforce needs in our schools.
Representative Chris Sells moved legislation requiring app stores to implement age verification and parental consent safeguards, reinforcing parents’ rights and protecting children online.
Below, please find a list of each Republican-sponsored bill that passed during the second week of the session. As always, you can view and download the PDF versions of these reports by clicking on the image for each chamber.
Looking forward to the week ahead. Thank you for your continued support.
