Alabama Grocers Association Backs Corey Hill for Agriculture Commissioner
Hill is a fourth-generation farmer, grocery store operator, and Mayor of Douglas, AL

The Alabama Grocers Association has endorsed Douglas Mayor Corey Hill for the 2026 race for Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries.
A fourth-generation farmer, grocery store operator, and Mayor of Douglas in Marshall County, Hill “embodies the values and vision needed to lead Alabama’s agricultural future,” the Association stated. Ellie Taylor, President of the AGA, praised Hill’s dual roles, saying, “Corey Hill understands the full spectrum of Alabama agriculture — from the farm to fork. As a grocer, Corey has firsthand knowledge of the challenges our independent retailers face, and as a farmer, he lives the realities of rural agriculture every day. We are confident he will be a powerful voice for our industry and for communities across the state.”
On his family’s mixed-use farm, Hill raises cattle and poultry with an emphasis on sustainability and care for the land. The AGA noted that these principles are ones Hill commits to carrying into state leadership.
In response to the endorsement, Hill said, “I’m honored to have the support of the Alabama Grocers Association — an organization that has stood by our state’s independent retailers and rural communities. Together, we can build a future where Alabama agriculture thrives at every level.
Hill is one of three Republicans seeking the seat, and will face State Senator Jack Williams and Christina Woerner McInnis in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary.
Corey Hill is a lifelong Douglas, Alabama, resident. He’s a graduate of Douglas High School and Snead State College, and also attended Jacksonville State University. He splits his time between public service as Mayor of Douglas and running a family farm that includes poultry and cattle operations—as well as managing a local grocery store. His roots as a fourth-generation farmer ground his campaign in rural values and hands-on experience.
