Acts of general State-wide impact signed by Governor Ivey this past week

The following is a partial list of Acts signed by Governor Kay Ivey during the week of April 21-26, 2025. It only includes general bills that affect the entire State. It does not include single-County bills, Resolutions of any type, including Commendations, Congratulations, Honors or Mourning, or any Act relating to Sundown Laws and their extensions.

2025-193 (H309) relating to the Public Education Employees Health Insurance (PEEHIP) Board; to amend the Code of Alabama to require the renegotiation of contracts for Medicare retiree health benefit plans every five years
2025-201 (H27) relating to sex offenders, to amend the code of Alabama to prohibit sex offenders from being employed or volunteering as a first responder
2025-202 (S46) relating to Class 2 municipalities, to amend the Code of Alabama, relating to the Alabama Scrap Tire Environmental Quality Act, to authorize the governing body of a Class 2 municipality to establish a delegation agreement with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management to enforce the Act; to authorize enforcement in a Class 2 municipality in municipal court; and to provide for criminal penalties of certain violations
2025-203 (S95) relating to the Alabama Municipal Electric Authority, to amend the Code of Alabama to increase the amount of the directors fees authorized to be paid, at the discretion of the board, to the members of the Board of Directors and the chairman for each meeting of the board
2025-204 (S102) relating to Medicaid; to provide presumptive eligibility to pregnant women for Medicaid prior to the Medicaid agency’s approval of an application for Medicaid coverage; to limit the eligibility to what is provided under the state Medicaid plan for a period not exceeding 60 days; to authorize the agency to adopt rules to implement this provision; and to provide for the repeal of this act
2025-206 (HB168) relating to local emergency management organizations, to amend the code of ALABAMA to further provide for mutual aid agreements with other public or private agencies for reciprocal aid to protect public health and safety; to vest the authority in the governing body; to amend the code of Alabama, to further provide that employees of political subdivisions have the same powers and immunities when they act outside of the political subdivision, pursue it to a mutual aid agreement; and to make non-substantive changes to update the existing code language to current style
2025-207 (S61) relating to the Alabama Board of Examiners in Psychology; to enter into the School Psychologist Interstate Licensure Compact by modifying the Code of Alabama
2025-223 (S1) relating to public education, to amend the Code of ALABAMA, creating the Public Education, Employee Injury Compensation Program, the Public Education Employee Injury Compensation Trust Fund, and the Public Education Employee Injury Compensation Board; and to provide compensation to full time public education employees who are injured on the job
