The Alabama Republican Assembly has launched a video spot strongly opposing a pair of bills currently before the Alabama legislature that would change the Public Service Commission from an elected to an appointed body.

In the video, the narrator says:

“Power bills in Alabama are already some of the highest in America. Families are stretching every dollar, choosing between groceries, gas and keeping the lights on.
“Now, politicians in Montgomery want to eliminate your right to vote for the Public Service Commission. No vote. No accountability. Decisions made behind closed doors.
“Conservatives believe in limited government, transparency, and the Constitution.
“Taking away your vote does not protect freedom. It protects power.
“Call your legislator, tell them to protect our vote.”

The spot ends with the number of the Alabama State House switchboard (cover picture, above), which can be used to contact the legislators.

The Alabama Republican Assembly —“ the Conscience of the Republican Party” — has been actively opposing HB392 and its Senate twin. Recently, they released a written call to action against the two bills. The just-released commercial reiterates that call.
