Much has been made recently about ALGOP Chairman John Wahl’s driver’s license, or lack thereof. Last week, ALPolitics.com addressed the issue and offered Chairman Wahl the opportunity to tell his side of the story. Sunday evening, we spoke with Chairman Wahl by phone.

When asked directly about his Alabama driver’s license, Wahl confirmed that he did have a current, valid Alabama license. He further stated that he had showed this license at a recent GOP District meeting.

ALPolitics.com asked Chairman Wahl to respond to the allegations raised against him in a recent AL.com article, and he provided this statement:

“The recent article by AL.com contains so many misrepresentations and so many outright lies that it’s hard to even know where to start addressing them. The fact that any news source that claims to be legitimate could put a title on their article claiming I do not have an Alabama driver's license is ridiculous. I let the author know that I had an Alabama driver's license, and I showed my driver's license at the Fifth District GOP meeting the same night his article was published.” Wahl said.

He continued, saying “This is a new low in journalism. It really highlights what we have seen on the national level for years. It’s coming against Republican figures, especially people like Donald Trump, who has been absolutely attacked by the mainstream media since he took office in 2016.”

“It almost seems like truth doesn't matter to these reporters. The end justifies the means, and as long as they get their clicks, and as long as they get their hits on conservative figures, they keep going on. This is just one example of media bias, but I think it's why it's so important that conservatives stand up and seek truth, and demand truth from our Media in today's culture,” Wahl concluded.

Chairman Wahl stated that he had received considerable support from members of the Republican Party, but did not comment on any meetings which might be taking place to discuss this and other issues. He did say that he was still considering what, if any, action to address the initial article he might pursue in future.

ALPolitics.com appreciates the Chairman’s time in speaking with us.
