Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Republican Party announced today that its upcoming Summer Dinner, originally scheduled for Friday, August 1st, is being officially postponed.
The decision follows President Donald J. Trump’s endorsement of the event’s keynote speaker, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley, for the U.S. Senate race in North Carolina—a critical battleground in the 2026 election cycle.
“This is an exciting moment for our Party and the nation,” said ALGOP Chairman John Wahl. “Chairman Whatley is a strong conservative leader, and we fully support him as he considers stepping into one of the most important races in the country. President Trump’s endorsement has understandably reshaped Chairman Whatley’s immediate schedule and travel obligations, and we want to make sure he is able to concentrate on making this important decision. We recognize that preserving a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate is critical to the future of our country, and that must remain our highest priority.”
The Alabama Republican Party is actively working to reschedule the Summer Dinner and will release updated details as soon as they are confirmed. All purchased tickets and sponsorships will be refunded or honored for the rescheduled event.
“We appreciate the understanding and continued support of our members and grassroots supporters,” Chairman Wahl added. “Together, we are building momentum to elect strong conservative leaders and defend our values—both here in Alabama and across the nation.”
