From Dr. Randy B. Kelley, Chair of the Alabama Democratic Party

Hi there!

I wanted to take a moment to personally introduce myself as the Chair of the Alabama Democratic Party.

My name is Dr. Randy B. Kelley, and I'm an activist, pastor, and political organizer who's spent my life fighting for working people and building coalitions that create real change. I served in the United States Army, where I specialized in race relations and leadership training. I've pastored churches across Alabama from Huntsville to Birmingham to the Wiregrass. And I've organized communities through my work with the NAACP, SCLC, and now as Vice President of the Alabama Democratic Conference.

Every step of my journey — from the pulpit to the picket line to the political arena — has taught me the same lesson: When we organize everywhere, when we show up for everyone, when we build power from the ground up, we win.

That's the approach I'm bringing to the Alabama Democratic Party. And I'm proud to tell you that it's already working.

When I assumed leadership, we had fewer than 40 active county units.

Today, we have active Democratic organizing in all 67 counties in Alabama. Every single one. Our staff helped deliver historic victories for Marilyn Lands in her special election and Shomari Figures in his congressional race. And now we're fielding the most statewide Democratic candidates in over a decade — 138 candidates total, contesting 97 races across federal, statewide, and state legislative seats.

This is what happens when we stop writing off communities and start organizing them. This is what happens when we build a party that actually shows up for all y'all.

But we're just getting started, and we need your help to keep this momentum going.

I’ve spent my career bringing people together — in the church, in the streets, in the political arena. I've learned that real change doesn't come from the top down. It comes from organizing block by block, county by county, community by community. It comes from showing up in places others have abandoned and saying: We see you, we hear you, and we're fighting for you.

That's the Alabama Democratic Party we're building. A party with organizers in every county. A party that competes in every race. A party that understands our strength comes from our grassroots supporters like you.

We've come a long way in a short time. But the work isn't done. Not even close.

I'm honored to serve as your Chair, and I'm excited about what we're going to accomplish together in 2026 and beyond.

Let's get to work.
