Amanda Pair Legacy Run Marks Fifth Year With New 10K on Nov. 14
Birmingham event in Liberty Park honors Amanda Pair with races, family fun and support for her memorial scholarship
Runners, walkers and families will gather in Liberty Park on Saturday, Nov. 14, for the fifth annual Amanda Pair Foundation Legacy Run, held in recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
This year brings a new partnership with the Alabama Race Series and a longer route for runners. Presented by Alabama Oncology, the event begins and ends at Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park, 17035 Liberty Parkway. See RunSignup’s race page for details.
In announcing the event, the Foundation said:
“For our fifth anniversary event, we are excited to partner with the Alabama Race Series and have added a 10K race to complement our existing race options. Whether you're a competitive runner, a casual walker, a cancer survivor, a family member, or simply someone who wants to support a great cause, we invite you to participate.
“If running isn't your thing, we hope you'll still come out and enjoy the day. We'll have a lively Vendor Village, great community partners, music from our DJ, and an atmosphere focused on hope, remembrance, and community. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with others while supporting cancer patients and their families.
“If you own a business or know someone who does, we are accepting Vendor Village reservations through this Saturday and would love to showcase local businesses and organizations at the event.
“Please consider registering, sharing the event with family and friends, or simply stopping by to enjoy the festivities and help us celebrate Amanda's legacy.”
The Amanda Pair Foundation honors a wife and mother of two who died in June 2022 after being diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer the prior fall. The foundation helps families facing cancer, funds research and supports students through a memorial scholarship.
Most Legacy Run proceeds will go toward that scholarship, created with the Vestavia Hills Elementary Liberty Park PTO. The award honors a graduating Vestavia Hills High School senior who attended the elementary school.
Current race listings and registration fees include:
- 5K: 8:30 a.m.; $45.
- 10K: 8:30 a.m.; $55.
- One-mile family run/walk: 9:30 a.m.; $20.
Online sign-up for the 5K and 10K closes at 6:00 PM Friday, Nov. 13. Family run/walk entries close at 8:00 AM race day. All times are Central.
