Baldwin County Mayors Back Elliott for State Senate
All 14 Mayors in Baldwin County have endorsed State Sen. Chris Elliott, citing his influence in Montgomery, service to local communities
Baldwin County’s 14 City and Town Mayors have announced a unified endorsement for State Sen. Chris Elliott’s (R-Josephine) bid for another term in the Alabama Senate. The Mayors said Elliott’s work in Montgomery has brought Baldwin County a stronger voice and real results.
Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich praised Elliott’s commitment to constituents, saying, “Chris Elliott embodies the three things that you want in a state senator – he’s responsive, he’s reliable, and he’s relentless.”
Daphne Mayor Robin LeJune noted that Elliott is present where decisions are made. “Sen. Elliott is involved in every important conversation taking place in the Alabama State House, which means Baldwin County’s interests are being represented in every important conversation taking place in Montgomery,” he said.
Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan called Elliott a strong advocate for the Gulf Coast. “Chris Elliott is the fighter we need in Montgomery securing the resources that the Eastern Shore and the rest of Baldwin County deserve.”
Orange Beach Mayor Tony Kennon emphasized the county’s leverage in state funding. “Thanks to the work of Sen. Chris Elliott, Baldwin County has tremendous influence when it comes to obtaining funding for roads, schools, and other projects, so it makes no sense to abandon our influence and go to the back of the line.”
Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft added that Elliott puts local priorities first. “Chris puts the best interests of Baldwin County and the citizens he swore an oath to serve first, and he’s making sure our voices are heard in the committee rooms and chambers in Montgomery.”
Mayors from Perdido Beach, Elberta, Magnolia Springs, Silverhill, Summerdale, Robertsdale, Spanish Fort, Loxley, and Bay Minette also lent their support in the announcement.
Elliott, a Republican representing Senate District 32, thanked the Mayors and highlighted his commitment to listening to residents. “I am always guided by the voices and concerns of my constituents in Baldwin County because they have more common sense than all of those bureaucrats and politicians in Montgomery combined,” he said. “Any time I am contacted by a local official, a concerned citizen, or a Baldwin County neighbor in need, it is my goal to respond immediately, resolve their issue, and ensure they have received the attention and resolution they deserve.”
Elliott is currently serving his second term in the Senate, chairs the County and Municipal Government Committee, and sits on the influential Senate General Fund budget committee. In addition, he holds seats on several key committees and the Joint Transportation Committee, where he has pushed for road and bridge funding across Baldwin County and support for the Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project.
Before the Senate, Elliott served on the Baldwin County Commission and chaired the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization. He and his wife, Alainna, have two children and attend St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Bon Secour.
