Barry Moore Backs Government Funding to Avoid Shutdown
Rep. Barry Moore supported a Senate-amended spending bill that funds key federal agencies, bolsters defense and avoids a full shutdown
U.S. Representative Barry Moore (R-AL-1) voted Monday in favor of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 7148, the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026, a bipartisan spending package aimed at keeping much of the federal government funded and advancing national security priorities.
The Senate-amended version of the bill passed that chamber on January 30 by a 71-29 vote, clearing most of the way toward final passage and sending the measure to the White House pending additional action.
“This appropriations package, supported by President Trump, keeps the government open and puts America First,” said Rep. Barry Moore. “It reins in reckless spending, delivers a pay raise for our troops, strengthens national defense, and invests in shipbuilding and critical munitions. This package cuts funding for woke and wasteful programs, ends failed foreign aid, and strengthens border enforcement. For the first time in 30 years, Republicans are leading the charge to fund the government through regular order. We are proving we can govern responsibly despite Democrats’ political posturing.”
The Consolidated Appropriations Act blends multiple appropriations bills into one package and funds a range of federal departments and agencies, including defense, labor, health and human services, education, transportation, and housing through the end of the fiscal year. It also extends several expiring programs and authorities in areas such as agriculture and cybersecurity.
The Senate amendment includes five of the remaining FY 2026 appropriations bills and extends funding for others under short-term measures while negotiations continue.
The legislation funds key Republicans and Trump Administration priorities for Fiscal Year 2026, fully supports U.S. troops, modernizes air traffic control, cuts wasteful spending, and keeps the appropriations process moving forward in a responsible manner.
