The Business Council of Alabama’s political arm, ProgressPAC, has endorsed Wes Allen in his campaign for Alabama Lieutenant Governor in 2026. The backing adds to a growing list of business and industry endorsements for the Republican candidate.

ProgressPAC, the political action committee representing the State’s largest business network, supports candidates who promote a competitive economic climate and policies that spur job growth and investment. Allen was selected for his record of conservative leadership, fiscal responsibility and efforts to ease regulatory burdens.

“Wes Allen understands that efficient government and a strong business climate go hand in hand,” said ProgressPAC Chairman Kevin Savoy in a statement. “As Secretary of State, he implemented key reforms like improving election security, reducing bureaucratic red tape, and cutting unnecessary spending.” The PAC said it is confident Allen will bring similar pro-business, results-oriented leadership as Lieutenant Governor.

Helena Duncan, President and CEO of the Business Council of Alabama, echoed that praise, calling Allen a “principled elected official and a steady leader.” She said his focus on accountability, fiscal discipline and limited government aligns with the business community’s goals for the sSate.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Business Council of Alabama and the thousands of small businesses and large employers that they represent,” Allen said in response to the ProgressPAC announcement. “We share a common goal of working each day to make Alabama the best State in the country to work, to live, and to raise a family.”

Allen has served as Alabama’s 54th Secretary of State since 2023, where he has championed conservative reforms on election security and streamlined processes for businesses and candidates. His office withdrew Alabama from the ERIC database and created the State-run Alabama Voter Integrity Database, and supported laws requiring paper ballots and banning internet-connected tabulators, among other measures.

Beyond endorsements from ProgressPAC, Allen has picked up support from other business groups like the Alabama Trucking Association and the Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama, which have praised his pro-small business record.

In September 2025, Allen also proposed a Statewide plan to cut government spending and reward State employees for cost-saving ideas, a move aimed at reducing waste and boosting efficiency across state agencies. Under that proposal, employees could earn bonuses for suggestions that lead to measurable savings.

Before serving as Secretary of State, Allen was Pike County Probate Judge and a member of the Alabama House of Representatives. He is competing in a Republican primary for Lieutenant Governor that includes several other candidates, with the primary set for May 19, 2026.
