State Representative Ben Harrison officially announced today that he will seek re-election to the Alabama House of Representatives, continuing his work on behalf of the citizens of District 2, which includes parts of Lauderdale and Limestone Counties.

Since his election, Harrison has built a strong record as one of Alabama's most principled and effective conservative voices. He has consistently ranked as the most conservative member of the Alabama House, earning top marks from the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), the Freedom Index, Club for Growth Foundation, and the American Conservative Union.

"It's been one of the greatest honors of my life to represent the hardworking people of North Alabama in the State House," said Rep. Harrison. "I believe North Alabama needs representatives who will stand strong for our conservative values, fight for working families, and protect our constitutional freedoms. When I first ran for State House four years ago, I promised to fight for limited government, lower taxes, and to defend the values that make our communities strong—and my voting record shows that commitment."

Ben Harrison has a proven record within the conservative movement, serving as a
Republican on the County Commission from 2012 to 2020, where he was a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility. He was selected as a Donald Trump Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2020 and later served as an Alternate Delegate for Trump in 2024. A lifelong resident of Alabama, Harrison earned his engineering degree from Auburn University. He is married to Beth McGuire Harrison, and together they have four children and five grandchildren.

"As a father and grandfather, I believe our greatest responsibility is to protect the future for the next generation," Harrison said. "I grew up on my family's farm between Athens and Rogersville, where I learned the values of hard work, honesty, and integrity. I am not a career politician—I spent years in the private sector before starting my own small business. These experiences shaped my commitment to bringing common-sense, conservative solutions to Montgomery."

During his time in the legislature, Harrison has been a vocal advocate for tax relief, voting to cut taxes by hundreds of millions—including voting to reduce the state grocery tax in both 2022 and 2024. He has stood firm for school choice and parental rights, ensuring that Alabama families—not bureaucrats—make the decisions that impact their children's education. Harrison has also been a vocal advocate for legislation to protect the safety and dignity of women, voting to keep biological males out of women's sports and bathrooms.

"I strongly believe in the American Dream and the values that made America great," Harrison said. "Every vote I cast is guided by the belief that government should serve the people, not control them. When I vote to cut taxes, I'm thinking about the small business owner trying to keep their doors open, the parents stretching their paychecks to feed their family, and the retirees living on fixed incomes. When I vote for school choice and parental rights, it's because I believe parents and local teachers—not unelected bureaucrats—are best equipped
to decide what's right for our children's future. And when I take a stand to protect women's sports and private spaces, I'm doing it because fairness, safety, and common sense matter. These principles aren't negotiable for me—they're at the heart of what the people of North Alabama stand for, and I'll never stop defending them."

Ben Harrison is running for State House District 2 in the May 19th Republican Primary next year. "I am asking the people of District 2 for the opportunity to continue to work for them.

Together, we can keep Alabama strong, free, and true to the principles that make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family," Harrison concluded.
