Beth Kellum Qualifies for Reelection to Alabama Criminal Court
Veteran Judge Beth Kellum files with GOP for new term on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, backed by major State business, agricultural PACs
Judge J. Elizabeth “Beth” Kellum has formally qualified with the Alabama Republican Party as a candidate for reelection to the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 5.
Kellum has served on the State’s Court of Criminal Appeals since her election in 2008. She brings more than 40 years of legal experience to the bench, including work as an Assistant Attorney General, private practice attorney, and appellate law specialist before joining the court.
“I have been deeply honored to serve the people of Alabama on the Court of Criminal Appeals, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue that service,” Kellum said in a statement. “My focus has always been—and will remain—on applying the law fairly and consistently for everyone who comes before the court.”
Throughout her career, Kellum has said she is committed to fairness, respect for the rule of law, and impartial justice in all cases that appear before the appellate court.
“Every Alabamian deserves a court system that they can trust to be fair, independent, and respectful of their rights,” Kellum said. “I pledge to continue serving with integrity, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to the principles that make our State strong.”
Kellum’s 2026 campaign has drawn support from a broad coalition of State leaders and groups. FarmPAC, the political action committee of the Alabama Farmers Federation, endorsed Kellum for her connection with rural communities and commitment to justice.
The Alabama Forestry Association’s political arm, ForestPAC, also backed Kellum for her understanding of forestry and related industries, adding to her list of endorsements.
Manufacture Alabama, the Statewide manufacturing industry group, praised Kellum’s record of law-based decision-making and its positive impact on the business community.
ProgressPAC, the political arm of the Business Council of Alabama, endorsed Kellum for her commitment to constitutional fidelity and judicial professionalism.
The Alabama Retail PAC also announced support, highlighting Kellum’s thoughtful approach and consistent legal interpretation that contributes to economic stability.
A native of Alabama, Kellum earned both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Alabama. She lives in Montgomery and is active in her church and civic community.
