Businessman and Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Kyle Sweetser this week announced a slate of early endorsements from current State Democratic leaders and several former Republican members of Congress, signaling broad support for his campaign message.

Sweetser, a Mobile construction business owner who switched his party affiliation to Democrat in 2025 and qualified for the Democratic primary, has made affordability and accountability central themes of his run for Alabama’s open Senate seat.

The endorsements Sweetser highlighted include:
• Alabama Senate Minority Leader Bobby Singleton (D-Greensboro)
• Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels (D-Huntsville)
• State Rep. Barbara Drummond (D-Mobile)
• State Rep. Kenyatte Hassell (D-Montgomery)
• State Rep. Patrice “Penni” McClammy (D-Montgomery)
• Former Alabama Congressman Parker Griffith (D-AL)
• Former Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA)
• Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL)
• Former Congressman Joe Walsh (R-IL)

Together, these endorsements span current Democratic leadership in Alabama’s Legislature and notable former Republican lawmakers, underscoring Sweetser’s effort to build a campaign coalition that crosses traditional party lines.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me by bipartisan leaders across Alabama and our nation,” Sweetser said in announcing the endorsements. “My campaign is focused on making life affordable in Alabama, and holding institutions accountable to the people,” adding, “Speaking truth to power is getting more dangerous every day, and I am honored to be supported by real patriots who are defending democracy and standing up for truth.”

Sweetser joins a competitive field of candidates vying for his Party's nomination, including Dakarai Larriett; Lamont Lavender, Mark S. Wheeler II, and Everett Wess.
