Birmingham Islamic Center Food Distribution in Hoover Nov 22
Event will be from 12:00-3:00 PM at Birmingham Islamic Center, 2524 Hackberry Lane, Hoover
The Birmingham Islamic Society (BIS) will be hosting a food distribution on Saturday, November 22 between 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM at the Birmingham Islamic Center, 2524 Hackberry Lane, Hoover, AL 35226.
The food packages are available to all those in need, regardless of their faith, and is part of BIS’s commitment to caring for their neighbors, as BIS President Dr. Nasim Uddin previously told ALPolitics.com.
“Hoover is our home, and these are our neighbors. When members of our community are struggling, our faith calls us to act immediately and generously,” Dr. Uddin said.
This is the second food distribution the BIS has hosted recently, the first being November 1. That event, to assist those in need due to loss of SNAP benefits from the government shutdown, benefitted some 70 families. The upcoming Saturday event will not only aid those whose SNAP benefits may be slow to return, but also help those preparing for the holiday season.
The BIS pledged to distribute as many as 35,000 meals to residents of Hoover and surrounding areas during the SNAP cutoff. Saturday’s distribution, while not directly related to the now-resolving SNAP outage, represents an ongoing commitment to the welfare of Alabamians in Hoover and beyond.
