BREAKING: Charlie Kirk Shot During Utah Valley University Event; Suspect Arrested
Kirk’s condition is unknown at this time

Conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was shot during a public appearance at Utah Valley University (UVU), multiple outlets are reporting. The attack occurred around midday while he addressed students as part of his “American Comeback Tour.” Officials say a suspect is now in custody.
A video shared widely on social media captured the moment the gunshot rang out. Kirk recoiled and appeared to clutch his neck before collapsing, prompting nearby attendees to flee in panic. At press time, it appears that this video has been removed from X.
According to AVU campus police, a single shot was fired from a nearby building. The suspect was arrested shortly afterward.
Kirk was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition remains unconfirmed.
FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X that the agency was “closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting,” adding that agents would respond swiftly.
Prominent political figures quickly reacted. Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, "We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!" Vice President JD Vance added, "Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father." Utah Senator Mike Lee urged followers to pray for Kirk and those at the scene.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox stated he was being regularly briefed on developments. Authorities have vowed to hold those responsible fully accountable.
Charlie Kirk, age 31, co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012. The group has grown into a major force in conservative student activism. This stop on the American Comeback Tour attracted large crowds and had drawn protests and petitions in the run-up, particularly at Utah State University.
Authorities continue their investigation, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
This is a developing story.
