Breaking: Rob Reiner, Wife Found Dead in California Home
LAPD had not yet ID’d bodies at press time but other sources confirm Reiner, wife stabbed in probably homicide
Two people were found dead Sunday afternoon inside a home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles that records and neighbors say belongs to filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner.
At press time, the New York Post was citing sources confirming the bodies were those of Reiner and his wife Michele. Reportedly, both bodies were found with stab wounds, and a knife was found nearby.
Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to a medical-aid call near South Chadbourne Avenue at about 3:30 p.m., where they discovered a man and a woman deceased inside the residence. Fire officials said the victims were a 78-year-old man and a woman believed to be about 68, though authorities had not officially released their identities as early of Monday morning.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division has taken the lead on the case. That unit often handles investigations involving suspicious deaths and high-profile locations, but detectives have not yet publicly confirmed a cause of death or whether foul play is definitively ruled in or out.
Neighbors reported a heavy police presence on the street throughout the evening. Investigators could be seen entering and exiting the property as officers worked to secure the scene. At this time, LAPD has not released names, details on how the victims were found, or whether any suspects are being sought.
Reiner, 78, is widely known for his work in film and television, both as an actor and director. His credits include This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally… and A Few Good Men, along with his earlier role as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on All in the Family. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials have asked anyone with information to come forward.
This remains a developing story.
