President Donald Trump signed into law legislation requiring the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to publicly release unclassified documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The measure passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a 427-1 margin and cleared the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent.

The law mandates that the Justice Department make the records “searchable and downloadable,” and it sets a deadline of 30 days for the Department to begin the release. It covers materials such as internal DOJ communications, travel logs, plea-and-immunity agreements, and documents about Epstein’s detention and death.

Under the law, the DOJ retains the ability to redact materials that would identify victims, reveal child sex-abuse images, jeopardize ongoing investigations or prosecutions, or otherwise reveal protected content. But the bill explicitly blocks redactions based purely on embarrassment, reputational harm or political sensitivity.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

Jeffrey Epstein, who was charged by the Trump Justice Department in 2019 (Not the Democrats!), was a lifelong Democrat, donated Thousands of Dollars to Democrat Politicians, and was deeply associated with many well-known Democrat figures, such as Bill Clinton (who traveled on his plane 26 times), Larry Summers (who just resigned from many Boards, including Harvard), Sleazebag Political Activist Reid Hoffman, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (who asked Epstein to donate to his Campaign AFTER Epstein was charged), Democrat Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett, and many more. Perhaps the truth about these Democrats, and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein, will soon be revealed, because I HAVE JUST SIGNED THE BILL TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES! As everyone knows, I asked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, to pass this Bill in the House and Senate, respectively. Because of this request, the votes were almost unanimous in favor of passage. At my direction, the Department of Justice has already turned over close to fifty thousand pages of documents to Congress. Do not forget — The Biden Administration did not turn over a SINGLE file or page related to Democrat Epstein, nor did they ever even speak about him. Democrats have used the “Epstein” issue, which affects them far more than the Republican Party, in order to try and distract from our AMAZING Victories, including THE GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TAX CUT BILL, Strong Borders, No Men in Women’s Sports or Transgender for Everyone, ending DEI, stopping Biden’s Record Setting Inflation, lowering Prices, Biggest Tax and Regulation Cuts in History, ending EIGHT Wars, rebuilding our Military, knocking out Iran’s Nuclear capability, getting Trillions of Dollars INVESTED in the U.S.A., creating the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World, and even delivering a HUGE DEFEAT to the Democrats on the recent Shutdown Disaster. For years our Great Nation has had to endure RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, UKRAINE, IMPEACHMENT HOAX #1, IMPEACHMENT HOAX #2, and many other Democrat created Witch Hunts and Scams, all of which have been so terrible and divisive for our Country, and have been done to confuse, deflect, and distract from the GREAT JOB that Republicans, and the Trump Administration, are doing. This latest Hoax will backfire on the Democrats just as all of the rest have! Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Earlier, significant pressure had built on Trump and congressional Republican leadership as a group of bipartisan lawmakers forced the legislation forward using a discharge petition in the House.

Survivors of sex trafficking linked to Epstein welcomed the passage of the bill, describing it as “a watershed moment” in their long-standing calls for transparency. The move comes just three days after a group of Epstein survivors released a video demanding the release of “ALL the Epstein files.” That video may be seen on X at THIS LINK, or on the WorldWithoutExploitation.org home page.

The question now shifts to how quickly and fully the files will be released—and what they will contain. While some versions of the documents have been publicly shared in recent years, advocates say the newly-released material may offer a fuller picture of Epstein’s network and the government’s handling of his case.

The law’s enactment marks a rare moment of cross-party consensus in Congress on an issue of high public interest. In a statement, Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader, said:

“Our promise to the victims and to the American people is this: this will not and cannot be the end of the work.”

With the law now signed, attention turns to the DOJ’s actions in the coming days, as well as to how the released files will affect public perception of Epstein’s ties to individuals and organizations both foreign and domestic—and of the political fallout from the content of the files.
