Butler County Sheriff David Scruggs has announced his endorsement of Republican Katherine Robertson in the 2026 race for Alabama Attorney General, highlighting her record with law enforcement and public safety.

Robertson, Chief Counsel to current Attorney General Steve Marshall, has built a campaign focused on tough-on-crime policies and support for law enforcement leaders across the state. She is competing in the Republican primary for the open seat, joining Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey and former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell on the ballot. The Republican primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026.

“Katherine Robertson is the real deal—a no-excuses, pro-law-enforcement warrior ready to make Alabama the toughest state in the nation for criminals. Her longstanding work with the men and women in law enforcement and record of keeping families around our state safe is why we’re seeing leaders like Sheriff Scruggs continue to announce their support for her campaign,” Campaign Manager Annabel Martinson said.

Robertson commented on the endorsement, saying:

“Sheriff David Scruggs knows exactly what our Sheriffs and Deputies face on the front lines every single day. His endorsement, along with the numerous other endorsements from law enforcement leaders, sends a clear message: Alabama’s law enforcement community is united behind a candidate who will stand with the badge, lock up the bad guys, and never back down.”

Robertson has now received the endorsement of a number of active law enforcement leaders, the Republican Attorneys General Association, the Alabama Farmers Federation, The Alabama Forestry Association, the Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama.
