Case Dixon Launches Congressional Bid, Challenging Incumbent Gary Palmer in Alabama's 6th District
Aims to unseat Palmer by focusing on debt, ethics, term limits, smaller government and greater freedom

Case Dixon, a 26-year-old physical therapist assistant and lifelong conservative, has announced his candidacy for Alabama's 6th Congressional District. Dixon hopes to unseat six-term incumbent Gary Palmer in the May 19, 2026 Republican primary.
In a statement explaining his decision to run, Dixon said, "I'm running out of necessity. This is not a decision I take lightly. I truly feel I have no other choice. The birth of my first daughter completely changed everything. She is counting on me to protect her. I cannot sit around and hope that someone else will do it."
ALPolitics.com spoke with Dixon about his reasons for running.
“Gary Palmer wants bigger government and less freedom, and I don't,” Dixon said. “No one in Washington right now is taking the debt seriously, including Representative Gary Palmer. I'm someone that will. Right now, we are really robbing the next generation and my generation. It’s generational theft, with what we're doing with Washington spending, and we need someone that's gonna take that seriously.”
Dixon's initial campaign statement focuses on several key issues:
- Fiscal Discipline: Stop reckless spending, actually address the rising national debt, finally say no to sending our tax dollars overseas, end budget gimmicks, and secure the future of Medicare and Social Security
- Ethics Reform: Put a stop to the get rich quick scheme that has become Washington by enacting term limits, banning congressional stock trading, and shut down the abuse of leadership PACs. Congress should serve the people-not profit off them
- Healthcare Freedom: We must expand telemedicine, repeal anti-competition laws, and incentivize care where it's needed most-especially in rural Alabama. This will save lives, allow hospitals to thrive, and reduce strain on taxpayer funded programs.
- Put Families First: Truly look out for seniors and working families by reforming the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. With rising daycare and caregiving costs, we need pro-family solutions that allow those in need to keep more of what they earn.
- Defend Life: Push for a nationwide ban on abortion and end the greatest tragedy our country has seen. Every one of us has rights endowed by God and the constitution. These rights have been ignored far too long.
- Break Big Pharma's Grip: Reschedule marijuana to expand responsible medical access and give states more freedom, as well as ban direct-to-consumer drug ads that inflate costs and compromise care.
Gary Palmer, who was first elected to Congress in 2014, is once again running for re-election. Palmer has faced criticism for seeking a seventh term after previously supporting a three-term limit pledge in 2014, and then promising to serve no more than five terms. He has defended his decision to seek re-election, citing the need for experienced leadership and the recent high turnover in Alabama's Congressional Delegation.
Dixon, a native of Alabaster, was homeschooled by his mother, and his father is a Veteran. He graduated from Hope Christian School in Pelham in 2018 and earned an Associate degree from Jefferson State Community College in 2021. He lives in McCalla with his wife Caroline and their 15-month-old daughter, Sadie. The couple is expecting their second child later this month.
