AL-06 congressional candidate Case Dixon made the following statement to ALPolitics.com regarding President Trump‘s actions in the Middle East against the Islamic Republic of Iran:

"Last summer, the American people were told that Operation Midnight Hammer 'obliterated' Iran’s nuclear capabilities and set the program back years. Now we are told the United States has begun major combat operations because Iran was allegedly a week away from 'industrial-grade bomb-making material.' The American people deserve a clear explanation of how those claims are reconciled.
“The Iranian regime is not an ally of the United States. That is well understood. It oppresses women, persecutes Christians, and holds values that are antithetical to those of the American people. But that alone is not a clear or consistent standard for military intervention. If it were, we would be in conflict with governments all over the world, including some with which we maintain diplomatic and economic ties.
“The United States should not engage in war with Iran.
“Another war in the Middle East will demand American lives and long-term resources at a time when our country is already deeply in debt. We have seen these patterns before. Conflicts in the region expand, grow more costly, and rarely remain limited.
“Escalation risks retaliation, regional instability, economic disruption, and further displacement of civilians. Prolonged conflict in the region can lead to increased refugee flows, including those seeking entry into the United States. We have seen these outcomes before.
“The decision to enter war is one of the most serious choices a nation can make. For that reason, the Constitution assigns that authority to Congress, not one individual. That safeguard exists to ensure accountability before American lives are placed at risk.
“Our servicemen and women should not be sent into harm’s way without a clearly defined national interest and lawful authorization. That is what the Constitution requires.
“Please join me in praying for the safety of our troops and for the innocent lives at risk."

A lifelong conservative and physical therapist assistant from Hueytown, Dixon has campaigned on concerns about federal spending, rising debt, a lack of accountability in Washington, ethics reform, protecting constitutional liberties, fiscal restraint, term limits for Congress, banning congressional stock trading, and returning power to the people.

Dixon is on the Republican primary ballot in Alabama’s Sixth Congressional District on May 19.
