Christian Coalition of Alabama Hosts Delegation from 16 European Union Countries
Discussion centered on how evangelical Christians view Europe, Ukraine and the midterm elections

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — October 26, 2026 — The Christian Coalition of Alabama on Thursday, October 22, hosted a delegation of representatives from the embassies of 16 member countries of the European Union in the board room of the Coalition's offices. The visit was organized by the Bertelsmann Foundation, an independent, nonpartisan think tank in Washington, D.C., dedicated to a strong relationship between the United States and Europe.
Established in 2008, the Washington foundation is part of the international network of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, an independent foundation founded in 1977 and headquartered in Gütersloh, Germany. Through research, public forums, documentary films and the first fellowship exchange for U.S. legislative, German Bundestag and European Parliament staff, it works to strengthen the transatlantic relationship and brings that work to audiences outside Washington and Brussels.
The delegation has toured sites across Alabama, including Selma and Montgomery, and will visit Huntsville before returning to Washington and Europe.
The discussion centered on American attitudes toward Europe and the war in Ukraine: how evangelical Christians view those events, and whether America is turning away from Europe, from support for the freedom of Ukraine, and from the defense of Europe against Russian aggression.
The group also discussed the role of evangelical voters in the midterm elections and their effect on foreign policy, the Iran conflict, and how energy prices shape American attitudes toward Russia and its aggression.
“The Christian Coalition of Alabama was deeply honored to host this outstanding and distinguished delegation and to share insights into the American electorate and particularly attitudes and concerns in regard to evangelicals in Alabama and across America,” said Dr. Randy Brinson, president and chairman of the Christian Coalition of Alabama.
“It is our hope that this is the beginning of meaningful and lasting dialogue that recognizes both the historical and cultural ties that America shares with Europe throughout the history of Western civilization. We further recognize the importance of continuing and fostering deeper ties as we confront common adversaries and despots that seek to erase our common bonds and historic institutions that support and defend democracies across the globe.”
