The Club for Growth PAC has officially endorsed U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) for Alabama's 2026 gubernatorial race, contingent upon his anticipated announcement next week. The conservative Political Action Committee previously backed Tuberville during his successful 2020 Senate campaign, where he unseated incumbent Democrat Doug Jones by over 20 percentage points.

“Coach Tuberville has been a steadfast leader for commonsense policy reforms in the United States Senate, and would champion fiscal responsibility, school freedom, and tax cuts in Montgomery,” said Club for Growth PAC President David McIntosh. “Coach is the obvious choice to lead Alabama as the state’s next Governor, and we are proud to endorse him.”

While Tuberville has not formally declared his candidacy, he has indicated that a decision will be announced soon. “We’ll make some kind of announcement one way or another next week,” Tuberville told Alabama Daily News. “Stay tuned.”

Earlier Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth announced he would not seek the governor’s office, and Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate has also declined to run, considering a bid for lieutenant governor instead.

Club for Growth PAC has a history of significant involvement in political races. In the 2024 election cycle, Club for Growth Action and its affiliated Super PACs invested $163 million in races across the country, with endorsed candidates winning 77.3% of their contests.

The 2026 Alabama gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 3, 2026. Incumbent Governor Kay Ivey is term-limited and ineligible to seek re-election.

Tuberville's anticipated entry into the race, coupled with the Club for Growth PAC's endorsement, positions him as a leading candidate in the upcoming election.
