I am writing this article on October 14, 2025, the date of Charlie Kirk’s thirty-second birthday. Today also marks a very important moment in American history. Today is the day Charlie Kirk was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I watched his widow, Erika Kirk, receive his award with such an inspiring disposition. Erika gave a speech after accepting the award, encouraging us all to, “Be the embodiment of this medal.”

This is such an inspiring statement that Erika made, calling us to continue what her husband, Charlie, began. We can do this by sharing the truth of the Bible, sharing the truth of what our Founding Fathers built our country on, and by just standing firm in our Christian/Conservative beliefs. I say for Charlie Kirk’s birthday, we as Americans should take a vow to stand for faith and freedom like Charlie did. Not only this, but we should also do it fearlessly! Charlie Kirk lived without caring if he lost friends because of his beliefs, nor did he care what people thought of him. This is exactly how we should live!

The young generation around us is our Nation’s future. Knowing that I am part of this generation, I know that one day we will take the place of our parents and grandparents. We are called as Americans to lead our country to Christ and to continue this pattern by teaching our future children these exact beliefs. The only way we can do this is through Christ’s guidance alone!

This is my poem that I wrote for Charlie’s life and legacy shortly after his assassination. I wrote this poem so that it might inspire others to celebrate, protect, and continue his wonderful life and legacy!

Kirk’s Legacy

Americans shall remember forever more,

Of how Darkness knocked on America’s door.

On September 10, 2025,

An innocent man would tragically die.

This was not just an ordinary man,

He listened to God’s promised plan.

He spoke for what he knew was right,

Starting debates, but never fights.

He lived for God and loved him too,

He taught the Bible’s words of true.

He stood up for our country,

And spoke truth quite bluntly.

He never made things sound better than they were,

And these truths he taught to make our hearts stir.

He wasn’t just a man who spoke the truth,

He was a husband, a father, and a man of youth.

But on this Wednesday, he was speaking to a crowd,

A group of young adults on a college ground.

But as he was speaking, a shot rang out,

Hitting its target, making the crowd shout.

He was assassinated this terrible day,

Because someone didn’t like what he had to say.

Now he is no longer here,

But his legacy shall stay forever so dear.

His love for God and country stood out,

And his voice of truth is never in doubt.

People might not be able to see,

But this country I see before me,

Isn’t the land I know and love,

Where we can fearlessly worship our God up above.

Our founding fathers built a foundation for our country to sit,

But so many people might not wish to admit,

That this foundation is crumbling beneath our feet,

As it continues to go to other countries’ beat.

This is not what God wanted for our free land,

People shouldn’t be shot just because they take a stand.

But now we know that the man who was shot,

Is now with Jesus and to Heaven was brought.

Charlie Kirk is his name and it will be remembered forever,

I hope his life encourages others to stand down never.

Kirk cannot be silenced, even though his breath is no more,

His words shall ring out, for no one can ignore.

America should Stand and Unite as One,

For we need to continue what Charlie begun.
