NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Country music legend Lee Greenwood, the GRAMMY®-winning artist behind “God Bless the U.S.A.,” has endorsed Perry O. Hooper Jr. for the Republican State Executive Committee, Place 3, in Montgomery County. The primary election is Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

“My friend Perry O. Hooper Jr. represents the very best of Alabama, and I’m proud to see the incredible work he’s doing. Looking forward to seeing him serve on the executive committee.”
— Lee Greenwood

“It is an honor to have the support of Lee Greenwood, a true American patriot whose voice has stirred the hearts of generations,” Hooper said. “Lee’s friendship and his lifetime of devotion to faith, family, and country mean a great deal to my family and to me. With his endorsement, I am even more determined to bring strong, conservative leadership to the Republican State Executive Committee. I am asking my fellow Montgomery County Republicans to join Lee Greenwood and vote for me on Tuesday, May 19.”

Hooper is a Reagan-to-Trump conservative who has spent his entire adult life in the trenches of the Republican Party. He served five terms in the Alabama House of Representatives, was Floor Leader for Governors Guy Hunt and Fob James, and chaired the House Commerce, Utilities & Transportation Committee. He served as State Co-Chairman of the Trump for President Campaign in 2016, Co-Chairman of the 58th Presidential Inaugural Finance Committee, and Alabama Trump Victory Chairman. He has been a delegate to six Republican National Conventions.

The Republican State Executive Committee is the governing body of the Alabama Republican Party. “It is not a ceremonial post,” Hooper said. “It is the engine room of the party — the body that shapes who carries our banner, what our platform stands for, and how the conservative movement is run in this state. Montgomery County conservatives deserve a fighter in that room, and that is exactly what I will be.”

Lee Greenwood is one of the most decorated artists in country music history. He has been a steadfast voice for faith, family, and patriotism for more than four decades, and his anthem “God Bless the U.S.A.” remains one of the most beloved American songs of all time.
