Republican candidate for Alabama Attorney General Katherine Robertson has added another law-enforcement endorsement to her campaign with the public backing of Terry Mears, Sheriff of Crenshaw County. According to a campaign news release, this is the 12th sheriff and 14th overall law-enforcement leader in the State to support Robertson’s run for attorney general.

Sheriff Mears said, “I am proud to endorse Katherine Robertson for Attorney General. She is the right person for the job and has had all the training she needs to be successful. Smaller counties like ours need to send people to Montgomery that will look out for us—I know that Katherine will. I’m ready to help her win.”

Robertson’s camp says this endorsement strengthens a “rapidly growing coalition” of support that already includes other sheriffs, police chiefs, the current attorney general, and influential State organizations.

Campaign Manager Annabel Martinson commented, “Katherine Robertson has earned the trust of the brave men and women who protect our state…Alabamians know Katherine is the tough, tested, and proven fighter they want in Montgomery who will always put the people of Alabama first.”

Robertson herself said she is honoured by the sheriff’s support, noting, “Sheriff Mears represents the kind of courage and commitment that defines Alabama law enforcement. Our sheriffs put their lives on the line for their communities every day. As Attorney General, I’ll have their backs — and together, we’ll stand up for Alabama values and keep our State safe.”

Robertson will face former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey in the Republican primary on May 19, 2026.
