Cullman Police Chief Endorses Jay Mitchell in Alabama Attorney General Race
“I took one look at Jay’s record and understood why he’s the right person for the job”—Chief Joey Duncan
Cullman Police Chief Joey Duncan has announced his endorsement of Jay Mitchell for Alabama Attorney General.
Duncan cited Mitchell’s record of courtroom leadership and his strong alignment with public safety priorities as the driving factors behind his endorsement. “I took one look at Jay’s record and understood why he’s the right person for the job. What law enforcement needs is an Attorney General who will win for us in court, build for us in Montgomery, and stand with us in the line of fire. There’s no one better equipped to do that than Jay Mitchell. I’m thrilled to support him as our next Attorney General.”
Mitchell, in turn, expressed gratitude for the backing and emphasized the shared vision he holds with Chief Duncan for safer communities statewide. “I am so proud to have Chief Duncan’s support. His leadership shows what strong policing can do for a community,” Mitchell said. “Cullman is growing, thriving, and safe—and that’s no coincidence. Chief Duncan and his team work tirelessly to equip their officers and maintain strong relationships with their community. As Attorney General, I’ll replicate those priorities statewide. Every Alabama family deserves to feel as secure as the families in Cullman.”
The endorsement follows the Cullman City Council’s unanimous vote this week to renew Chief Duncan’s appointment, affirming his continued leadership role in the city.
