Republican candidate for Alabama State Auditor Derek Chen has signed the Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge, demonstrating his support for parental authority, transparency in education, and accountability in government decision-making that impacts families across the state.

The Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge underscores a core principle shared by many Alabamians — that parents, not unelected bureaucrats, should have a central role in decisions affecting their children’s education and upbringing.

“As someone running to be Alabama’s next State Auditor — an office rooted in accountability, transparency, and responsible oversight — I believe the same principles must extend to our schools and families,” Chen said. “Parents are the first and most important teachers in their children’s lives, and I’m proud to affirm that they deserve real transparency, a real voice, and a real seat at the table in education policy.”

Chen, an attorney and businessman from Vestavia Hills, has centered his campaign for State Auditor on restoring trust in government operations, making sure taxpayers know exactly how their resources are being used, and ensuring that elected leaders are accountable to the people they serve. The State Auditor’s office is constitutionally tasked with safeguarding public property and financial integrity — responsibilities that mirror the commitment to transparency that the Moms for Liberty pledge champions.

Emily Jones, Chapter Chair of Moms for Liberty – Madison County, applauded Chen’s decision:

“We’re encouraged to see candidates like Derek Chen who understand that accountability and transparency aren’t just important in government finances — they’re vital when it comes to the future of our children. By signing the Parent Pledge, Derek is affirming that families should be centered in the decisions that shape their children’s education and well-being.”

The Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge has been signed by leaders across the state who advocate for parental rights, transparency in schools, and family-first policymaking. Chen’s endorsement of the pledge reflects his broader commitment to limited government, local control, and respect for the voice of parents in all matters that affect their families.
