Hueytown, AL — Republican congressional candidate Case Dixon released the following statement after the U.S. national debt officially surpassed $39 trillion, warning that Washington’s reckless spending is directly impacting the cost of living for everyday Americans:
“When I began my campaign, the national debt was about $36.2 trillion. Just months ago, it crossed $38 trillion. Now it has surpassed $39 trillion,” Dixon said. “That’s an increase of roughly $2.8 trillion in just one year. Washington isn’t slowing down. It’s getting worse.”
“Families don’t need to see the debt to know something is wrong. They feel it every time they go to the grocery store, fill up their gas tank, or try to make a mortgage payment,” Dixon continued. “Status-quo politicians keep spending money we don’t have on things we don’t need, and Americans are left paying for it through higher prices and a weaker dollar.”
“Runaway debt fuels inflation, erodes purchasing power, and makes it harder for families to get by,” Dixon said. “It’s a hidden tax on every paycheck and a direct hit to working Americans who are already stretched thin.”
“My opponent, Representative Gary Palmer, talks about fiscal responsibility, but when it really counts, he continues to support the same spending that’s driving this crisis,” Dixon added. “We need leaders who stand up for their constituents when it matters most.”
“Washington knows we’re in trouble, but they simply lack the courage to act,” Dixon said. “The American people deserve leaders who are willing to put them ahead of politics, rein in spending, and start making decisions that actually make life more affordable again.”
