Alabama State Representative Donna Givens (R-Loxley) officially qualified Monday to seek reelection to the Alabama House of Representatives in House District 64, setting the stage for her 2026 campaign.

In a post on Facebook, Givens said:

“Today, I qualified for reelection for HD 64! It is truly my honor to serve the amazing people in district 64 as well as Baldwin County and the great state of Alabama! May God continue to bless you and our great state!!!”

Representing parts of Baldwin and Monroe counties, including Loxley, Foley, Robertsdale and Bay Minette, Givens first won this seat in 2022 and has served since taking office that November.

In announcing her bid earlier, Givens highlighted her legislative work and community roots. In December, she hosted a reception in Montgomery to rally supporters and discuss the upcoming legislative session, with Alabama House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter in attendance.

Givens has been active on a range of issues during her time in Montgomery. This past year, she prefiled legislation (HB51) aimed at increasing protections for elected officials and candidates, saying, “we’re here to discuss a bill that is both timely and necessary — legislation that will enhance protection for those who serve the public, both in and out of office.”

She has also championed innovative policy proposals, working with others on measures such as expanding access to healthy, ready-to-eat food for families (HB44) by allowing SNAP benefits to cover items like rotisserie chicken, a move she described as about “dignity, nutrition, and choice.”

Givens has also prefiled a number of bills for the upcoming session, including bills to allow the Legislature to revive time-barred civil claims arising from child sexual abuse (HB121) and to extend the time limitations on civil suits arising from child sexual abuse from six to twenty years (HB120).

Beyond her work in the Legislature, Givens was recognized in 2025 by the Christian Coalition of Alabama with the Friend of the Family Award for her leadership on the Baby Box Bill, a measure aimed at giving parents safe, humane options for newborn care. “This is not just an award — it’s a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there can be hope,” she said upon accepting the honor.

Givens’ reelection announcement on the first day of qualifying sends a strong message that she will be continuing to fight for conservative causes in Montgomery.
