Doug Jones: Alabama Is Ready to Move Beyond Divisive Politics

Birmingham, AL – Doug Jones joined Rev. Al Sharpton on PoliticsNation Sunday evening on MSNOW, where he drew a clear contrast with Tommy Tuberville's politics of division and argued that Alabamians are ready to move the state in a different direction.

"There's no question Tommy Tuberville is trying to throw us back into an era of hate, of division, of an Alabama that everybody sees as us versus them, good versus evil," Jones told Sharpton. "But that's not the people of Alabama that I know."

Jones has been campaigning and hosting town halls across the state. Tuberville, meanwhile, has mostly stayed out of public view.

"He's staying hidden like he did in 2020," Jones said. "But that was COVID. It was easy to stay hidden then. Not anymore. He's got to get out there."

Jones pointed to an issue uniting Alabamians across traditional political divides.

"The biggest thing we're seeing right now crosses political lines, racial lines, the urban-rural divide; it's the data center issue," Jones said. "People are upset about the data centers being planned in their communities, and they want a moratorium, which is exactly what I've called for."
