Doug Jones Brings His Fight for Change to Montgomery

Montgomery, AL – Doug Jones is bringing his statewide Town Hall Tour to Montgomery on Wednesday, August 12, at 5:30 p.m., taking his campaign for a different kind of state government straight to the state capital.

Jones will be joined by Rep. Phillip Ensler, the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor and a member of Jones' Ticket for Change. Democrats, Republicans, independents, and everyone in between are welcome. There are no pre-screened questions, no script, and no topics off limits.

"If you're asking Alabamians to trust you as their governor, the least you can do is answer their questions,” Jones said. “That's what these town halls are about." 

That message takes on added meaning in Montgomery, where too many decisions affecting Alabama families are made without listening to the people who have to live with the consequences.

Just blocks away, Jackson Hospital has spent months on the edge of closure while Alabama remains one of just 10 states that has refused to expand Medicaid. Roughly 150,000 Alabamians remain caught in the coverage gap, while hospitals across the state struggle to keep their doors open.

Jones has pledged to expand Medicaid eligibility and has repeatedly criticized state leaders for refusing to act.

“Every year, Montgomery politicians say no to Medicaid expansion and helping keep your tax dollars at home,” Jones said in his recent Vision for Alabama address.
