Doug Jones Brings Statewide Town Hall Tour Home to Birmingham

Birmingham, AL – Doug Jones will bring his statewide town hall tour home to Birmingham on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:00 PM at A.H. Parker High School. The town hall falls on the 63rd anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church, which killed Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Wesley.

The anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing holds special significance for Jones. As U.S. Attorney, Jones led the prosecutions of Thomas Edwin Blanton Jr. and Bobby Frank Cherry, two of the Ku Klux Klan members responsible for the bombing. Both were convicted, nearly four decades after the attack.

“I wanted to be in Birmingham for the anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing,” Jones said. “And holding this town hall at Parker High School makes it even more meaningful. Carole Robertson walked these halls. Sixity-three years ago, she and three other girls were taken from their families and this community far too soon. We owe it to them to remember what happened, how far Birmingham has come and the work we still have to do.”

This will be Jones’ first time back at Parker High School since November 2025, when he joined Congresswoman Terri Sewell for a joint town hall and first hinted at his run for governor.

Jones will take questions directly from Birmingham voters on jobs, housing, education, health care, public safety, transportation, and whatever else they want to put on the table. Nothing is off limits.
