Huntsville, AL – At the Madison County Courthouse on Monday, Doug Jones did what Tommy Tuberville wouldn’t. He thanked the families who moved to North Alabama and helped make it the fastest-growing region in the state.
Jones came to Huntsville a week after Tuberville told The Jeff Poor Show that people moving to the region were “brought up in these government-educated schools that have taught socialism and communism,” and that “we have to educate them.” The interview came just over a year after Tuberville stood in the Oval Office and called Huntsville “the perfect place for Space Command.”
“As U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Alabama and as U.S. senator, I worked closely with your elected officials, your chamber of commerce, your law enforcement,” Jones said. “And I’ve witnessed firsthand this amazing growth and success.”
Jones said that growth didn’t happen by accident.
“[Tuberville] insults the very people who have made Huntsville and North Alabama their home, who have raised their families, built businesses, and in fact made this region one of the most prosperous regions in the country,” Jones said. “You cannot welcome businesses to Alabama while demanding that those who come with them be educated in ways that conform to his beliefs.”
Jones warned about Tuberville’s promise to bring DOGE to state government through his planned Golden Age Action Team. Huntsville has already seen what that looks like. Federal agencies across the city pushed employees toward buyouts and early retirements, and Marshall Space Flight Center alone lost about 350 people.
“You look at what Trump did in DOGE cuts just in this area, thousands,” Jones said. “That’s what it will look like.”
He closed with a message to every family that has chosen North Alabama.
“You don’t need to be re-educated. You need to be thanked. We respect you for who you are and the contributions you bring. So welcome home.”
