Hoover, AL – Dr. Dale Deas, Republican candidate for the United States Senate from Alabama, issued the following statement regarding last night’s U.S. Senate Forum held at the Hoover Public Library. The event, hosted in Hoover where Dr. Deas currently resides, brought together voters and candidates for a substantive and respectful discussion of the issues facing Alabama and the nation.

“The forum last night in Hoover was cordial, well organized, and a real credit to everyone who helped put it together,” said Dr. Deas. “It was especially meaningful for me to see so many friends and neighbors from right here in Hoover come out on a weeknight to engage in the political process and ask serious, thoughtful questions about our future.”

One of the most timely topics of the evening was the ongoing war involving Iran and the broader question of American foreign policy in the Middle East. “I was asked about my views on the current situation with Iran,” Dr. Deas explained. “I do not support nation-building or so‑called ‘forever wars.’ Too many Americans sacrificed their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we must learn from that experience.”

Dr. Deas emphasized that any long‑term U.S. military presence or open‑ended commitment in Iran would be both strategically unwise and politically costly. “In my personal opinion, a prolonged deployment or entanglement in Iran will be very costly for Republicans in the midterms,” he said. “I support the decisive actions taken in the first hours of the initial wave of response, and I firmly believe we must never allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons capability.”

He noted that Iran has already been given a diplomatic off‑ramp. “Iran was offered the opportunity to suspend uranium enrichment for ten years, with the United States and our partners providing enriched uranium for its civilian energy needs,” Dr. Deas said. “They did not take that deal, and we cannot ignore that reality.”

At the same time, Dr. Deas stressed that the United States must be clear‑eyed about the humanitarian and moral dimensions of its policy. “The mass murder of innocent civilians and the brutal oppression of citizens who are peacefully protesting and exercising their basic freedom of speech can never be acceptable,” he said. “We must stand firmly against any leader who continues to oppress the Iranian people and violate their civil rights.”

Dr. Deas cautioned, however, against reckless efforts at regime change. “History has shown us that forced regime change has often gone badly in dozens of interventions across the world,” he continued. “We must be very careful about that path. My position is to be strong and clear in defending American security and preventing nuclear proliferation, while also refusing to enable continued oppression of the Iranian people.”

The forum covered a wide range of other issues as well, and Dr. Deas praised the audience for its engagement. “We had great discussions last night on several important topics, and I’m grateful for the respectful tone and the seriousness of the questions,” he said. “Events like this remind me why I entered this race: to give Alabamians a voice that is thoughtful, principled, and accountable.”

With Alabama’s statewide primary approaching, Dr. Deas encouraged citizens to make sure their voices are heard at the ballot box. Alabama’s primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and the voter registration deadline is Monday, May 4, 2026.

“I want to urge every eligible Alabamian to register to vote and participate in this critical election,” Dr. Deas said. “The decisions we make in 2026 will shape our foreign policy, our economy, and our children’s future for years to come. I look forward to many more conversations like the one we had last night in Hoover as we move toward May 19.”
