Etowah County Sheriff Backs Robertson in AG Contest
“Katherine has proven time and again that she is willing to fight for a criminal justice system that reflects Alabama’s values”—Sheriff Jonathan Horton
Etowah County Sheriff Jonathan Horton has given his full support to Katherine Robertson in the 2026 race for Alabama Attorney General. In a statement released by Robertson’s campaign, Horton cited her leadership, her experience, and her alignment with Alabama’s values as the reasons behind his endorsement.
“I am proud to endorse Katherine Robertson for Attorney General,” Horton said. “Katherine has proven time and again that she is willing to fight for a criminal justice system that reflects Alabama’s values. She has been the tip of the spear on some of the most pressing public safety issues facing our state over the last decade. Katherine will make an excellent Attorney General.”
Robertson currently serves as Chief Counsel in the State Attorney General’s office. Her record includes taking on organized crime and trafficking rings, defending Second Amendment rights, and acting against what she describes as “radical agendas” that threaten families. Her campaign says she continues to press these fights in support of law enforcement and conservative principles.
Responding to the endorsement, Robertson framed it as more than political support.
“These aren’t just campaign endorsements—they’re endorsements from leaders who I’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with in the fight against those who break our laws and threaten our communities,” she said. “Having the support of a seasoned law enforcement leader like Sheriff Horton is an honor and I’m thankful to have him in our corner!”
Horton’s backing adds to what Robertson’s campaign describes as “surging momentum.” In recent weeks, she has gained endorsements from several groups including the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA), Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) and the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama (P&CMA) also backed her candidacy, citing her pro-business and rule-of-law record.
The Republican primary is set for May 19, 2026, and Robertson is in a three-way race against former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.
