Figures Joins Tyson Foods to Deliver Truckloads of Food to Heart of Alabama Food Bank in Montgomery
Will be distributed across AL’s 2nd Congressional District

From the Office of Rep. Shomari C. Figures
Montgomery, Ala. – Today, Rep. Shomari C. Figures (AL-02) participated in an event where Tyson Foods, Inc. donated truckloads of food to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank to help alleviate hunger in the surrounding rural communities.
“I’m proud to stand with Tyson Foods and the Heart of Alabama Food Bank in the fight against hunger in our communities,” said Rep. Figures. “This generous donation from Tyson and the tireless work of the Heart of Alabama Food Bank to feed our families here in our district is the type of collaboration needed to build stronger, healthier communities.”
The donated food will be distributed through the Heart of Alabama Food Bank’s partners across counties in Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District, including Bullock, Butler, Crenshaw, Macon, Montgomery, and Pike. In addition, distribution will extend to partners serving Autauga, Chilton, Coosa, Elmore, Lowndes, and Tallapoosa counties. These partners provide daily meals and food pantry services to residents facing food insecurity in their communities. This is Rep. Figures’ second visit to a foodbank. Earlier this summer, he visited the Feeding the Gulf Coast facility to pack boxes and meet with officials regarding food insecurity in the area.
“We are grateful to Congressman Figures and his outstanding team for taking the time to visit the Heart of Alabama Food Bank and see firsthand the impact of our work,” said Heart of Alabama Food Bank CEO, Michael Coleman. “Their engagement demonstrates a genuine commitment to understanding the challenges our communities face and the partnerships required to ensure no neighbor goes hungry. We look forward to working together to strengthen resources and support for the families we serve.”
