Focus on America Issues CTA on HB475, HB 24
Urges passage of HB475 “as is,” HB24 be brought up for vote in Committee
Focus on America (FoA) has issued a Call To Action (CTA) on two bills currently under consideration in the Alabama Legislature.
HB475, introduced by Rep. Mack Butler (R-Rainbow City) would require the Public Service Commission (PSC) to conduct a formal rate case for electric utilities at least once every three years. It would also require the PSC to review utilities’ return on equity and align it with national averages, and would bar companies from including lobbying costs, political spending, and trade association dues when calculating rates.
FoA is urging concerned Alabamians to call their State Senator and urge them to vote YES on HB475 AS IS, with no amendments.

The second CTA by FoA is on HB24, which relaxes vaccine exemption requirements. HB25 clarifies that a parent or guardian's written declaration presented to the local Board of Education (or higher education institution) is sufficient documentation to exempt his or her child from a vaccine requirement for religious reasons.
FoA is asking that the members of the House Education Policy Chair and Committee be called and encouraged to bring the bill up for a vote by the Committee.
