From “Deplorables” to “Lowlifes”—We’ve Been Here Before

I’m seriously considering running a poll:

Who or what is the biggest threat to Trump’s Presidency right now?

—The Democrats

—The Deep State

—Donald J. Trump

I don’t think DJT would be happy with what that poll would show, mainly because I think it’s #3 by a YUGE margin.

Late Sunday afternoon, President Trump took to his Truth Social account to say:

The Republican Party has never been so UNITED AS IT iS RIGHT NOW! Other than Rand Paul, Rand Paul Jr.(Massie!), Marjorie “Traitor” Brown, and a couple of other “lowlifes,” and other than the fact that many want the Election threatening Filibuster TERMINATED (the Dems will do it in the first minute of their first chance!), and some don’t, there is great spirit and cohesion - Plus, the Republican Party is MUCH BIGGER than it was when I announced in 2015 or, ever was before - Many Millions More Members! We now have the Strongest Border EVER, Biggest Tax Cuts, the Best Economy, Highest Stock Market in USA History, and sooo much more. BUT, THE BEST IS YET TO COME! VOTE REPUBLICAN!!! (sic)

That particular post is especially rich, coming (as it did) hard on the heels of an election in which the Republican Party got well and truly spanked. Not just “lost” or “narrowly defeated”—SPANKED.

I suppose it also makes me a “lowlife,” since I find myself more in agreement with Rand Paul, Thomas Massie and MTG these days than I do with one Donald J. Trump.

It seems like only yesterday that Hillary was calling us “Deplorables”—and we all know how that worked out for her!

And now this President is doing the same thing—disparaging not just many of his base, but some of the few in Congress (to be one fewer, as of Jan. 5) who actually seem to be putting America First principles, well, FIRST.

That this required them to disagree with this President? I’d say that was more on him than them, especially given recent events.

And these outbursts, culminating in the “lowlifes” comment? Narcissistic rage outburst is one term for it. Bratty temper tantrum is another.

And for what? Insisting that the victims of a decades-long sex trafficking scheme see the first steps towards receiving justice—regardless of just which billionaire donors, corrupt/compromised politicians, captains of industry, intelligence services and possibly even foreign governments might be embarrassed? Not wanting more foreign wars? Wanting the Swamp drained? Not wanting more hordes of H1Bs and 600,000 Chinese students to continue flooding the country?

Wanting campaign promises of “America First” kept? Not just a few, but more of them?

Trump has always been said to value loyalty, but loyalty is not slavish, unquestioning obedience. It is not blind, unthinking submission. It is not syncophantic yes-manning. It is not abandoning your core principles for the sake of expediency or The Boss’ ego.

Loyalty is, however, a two-way street—something one Donald J. Trump seems to have forgotten. And if it only runs one way..?

Hillary Clinton condemned and marginalized large swaths of Americans as Deplorables, because we dared to disagree with Her.

Et tu, Donald?
