Golesh’s Auburn Contract is Incentive-Heavy
Contract details began circulating on social media Monday—could reach $15.85 million in first year
Auburn University’s six-year contract with newly-hired Head Coach Alex Golesh has a substantial base, yearly increases—and a significant number of incentives based on his performance.
According to a document circulating on social media on Monday:
ALEX GOLESH COMPENSATION TERMS
Six-year employment contract: November 30, 2025 - December 31, 2031 (or Auburn's last football game of the 2031-32 season, whatever is later)
Annualized Salary:
- Nov. 30, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2026 $6,750,000
- January 1, 2027 through Dec. 31, 2027 $7,000,000
- January 1, 2028 through Dec. 31, 2028 $7.250,000
- January 1, 2029 through Dec. 31, 2029 $7,500,000
- January 1, 2030 through Dec. 31, 2030 $7,750.000
- January 1, 2031 through *Dec. 31, 2031 $8,000,000
(*or Auburn's last football game of the 2031-2032 season, whichever is later)
Performance Incentives:
(Cumulative):
- 9th regular season win - additional $1,500,000
- 10th regular season win - additional $2,000,000
- 11th regular season win - additional $1,000,000
- 12th regular season win - additional $1,000,000
(This highest of the following if more than one is applicable):
- $150,000 for a SEC Conference Championship Game appearance
- $300,000 for winning the SEC Championship Game
(Cumulative):
- $1,000,000 for CFP first round appearance or first round bye
- $250,000 for CFP Quarterfinal Game Appearance
- $250,000 for CFP Semifinal Game Appearance
- $500,000 for CFP National Championship Game Appearance
- $1,000,000 for CFP National Championship Game Victory
Also:
- $25,000 for Top 25 Final Ranking (AP, Coaches, or CFP polls, only)
- $50,000 if named SEC Coach of the Year
- $75,000 if named National Coach of the Year (limited to one): Bryant, Camp, ESPN, AP, AFCA, Eddie Robinson, Bobby Dodd, Sporting News or Maxwell
If Golesh wins the CFP National Championship next year and is named both SEC and National Coach of the year, his total package could reach $15,850,000.
We suspect Auburn would be more than happy to pay that out.
