U.S. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) has thrown his support behind U.S. Representative Barry Moore (R-AL-01)) in the 2026 race for Alabama’s open U.S. Senate seat.

In his endorsement statement, Thompson praised Moore’s work for the agriculture sector and rural communities. “Barry Moore is a proven conservative and a reliable champion for America’s farmers,” Thompson said. “He has defended agriculture in the House, pushed back against federal overreach, and understands that family farms are the backbone of rural Alabama. Agriculture will have no greater friend than Senator Barry Moore.”

Moore, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, welcomed Thompson’s endorsement. “I’m honored to earn Chairman Thompson’s endorsement,” he said. “Like President Trump, he understands that strong agriculture policy starts with farmers, not federal bureaucrats. Agriculture is Alabama’s largest industry, and as Senator, I’ll work with Chairman Thompson to protect family farms and ensure Alabama producers have a real voice in Washington.”

Moore’s campaign has been closely tied to agricultural issues and rural voters. He grew up in Coffee County and has touted his background in agriculture and business as part of his appeal to voters across the State.

The endorsement adds to a growing list of support for Moore’s Senate bid, which already includes a full endorsement from President Donald Trump. In a Truth Social post, Trump described Moore as “a good friend, fighter, and WINNER” with his “Complete and Total Endorsement” to be Alabama’s next senator.

Chairman Thompson, first elected to Congress in 2008, has served as Agriculture Committee chair since 2023. He has been a strong advocate for rural issues and farm policy throughout his career in the House.

Moore, first elected to the U.S. House in 2020, remains focused on conservative priorities and his support for agricultural producers. Moore is a Christian, husband, father of four, and a small-business owner in Enterprise. Before serving in Congress, he was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2010. In Washington, he serves on key committees and is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
