From the Alabama Democratic Party

On Saturday, the Alabama Democratic Party's State Executive Committee elected me as your new Chair. I'm humbled, I'm honored, and I'm ready to get to work.

Before I say anything else, I want to thank Dr. Randy Kelley for his years of service to this party. Dr. Kelley led with dedication and heart during his leadership of Alabama Democrats, and he helped lay important groundwork.

Now, let's talk about what comes next:

I've spent years in the Alabama Senate as your Minority Leader, watching Republicans organize, fund, and support their candidates with everything they've got — while too often, Democrats were left to fend for themselves. I felt that frustration firsthand, in the middle of legislative battles, wondering where our party's support was. That frustration is exactly why I stepped up to lead this party. Not to relitigate the past, but to build something stronger for the future.

Here's my promise to you: I hear you, and I see you.

I see the women of this state who've carried this party on their backs for decades. I hear the LGBTQ Alabamians who've too often been an afterthought instead of a priority. I see the Black, Hispanic, and youth communities who've organized tirelessly and deserve a party that organizes just as hard for them.

We can no longer do things the old way. It's 2026. Alabama deserves a Democratic Party that shows up, communicates, and fights like our future depends on it — because it does.

Here's what I'm doing immediately: I'm launching listening tours across all 67 counties. I'm bringing government closer to the people, not further away. I'm building out a 90-day plan focused on listening, organizing, and mobilizing everything we've got before November. And I'm not doing it alone — I'm proud to have Caroline Self stepping in as our new Vice Chair, bringing the kind of energy and communication this party desperately needs.

This is a new day for Alabama Democrats. We are on the doorstep of the most promising electoral landscape this state has seen in years. Trump's approval is cratering. And now, we have unity.

But unity without resources is just a nice sentiment. I need YOUR help to turn this moment into November victories.

Not only do we need to raise money — we need to build this party from the ground up, in every county, with every community, starting today. I didn't take this job to manage what already exists. I took it to transform what's possible.

Alabama is ready. I'm ready. Are you with me?

Let's go to work.
