ICYMI: Hoover Democrats Host Alabama Climate Forum
Monday event in Hoover featured numerous State, local candidates
The Hoover Democrats sponsored an Alabama Climate Forum at the Hoover Public Library on Monday, August 31, 2026.
The forum was an opportunity for Democratic candidates and others to answer environmental policy questions from the community. The theme of the evening was Alabama’s environmental diversity as “the Amazon of the USA.”
Other topics included data centers and the upcoming general election on November 3.
The Forum was streamed to the ALPolitics.com Facebook page, and may be seen at the THIS LINK.

Liz Lane, Chair of the Hoover Democrats opened the evening by thanking the attendees and introducing the Moderator, Elizabeth Anderson.

- Ashtyn Kennedy, former Congressional candidate
- Hanu Karlapalem, State House District 4
- Phillip Ensler, Lieutenant Governor
- Ron Sparks, Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries
- Wayne Rogers, Secretary of State
- Jim Toomey, State House District 47
- Keith O. Williams, Independent candidate, AL House District 55
- Katie Kramer, State Senate District 8
- Spencer Stone, State Senate District 16
At the end of the evening, the following candidates also spoke briefly before the meeting adjourned.
- Maurice Mercer, U.S. Congress District 6
- Taylor Cook, State House District 43
A surrogate for Alan Thomas, State House District 50 also addressed the attendees in his absence.
